Label To Know - Moncler A

Moncler A chic geekFrench snow and cold weather specialist, Moncler, has produced capsule collections before. I was a big fan of Moncler V, a few years back.

Left - The new Moncler A capsule collection is deliberately oversized

The latest - Moncler A - a capsule line for the AW15 season, is a team up with AMI, founded in 2011 by Parisian menswear designer Alexandre Mattiussi.

Moncler A sweatshirt oversized the chic geekTraditional English fabrics such as Shetland or dogtooth check have been combined with more technical, high-performance materials such as technical poplin and neoprene.

Right - Fashion’s all gone a bit Wes Anderson and this collection is testament to that with the oversized logos and beanie hat styling

The collection features an oversize fit as the hallmark of the range; jackets have wide shoulders and trousers a low crotch for a loose fit. The collection’s other details include oversized zips and cream linings throughout.

The classic Moncler shield logo has been enlarged and features a vintage-look embroidery finish.

TheChicGeek says "This is a great collection. It has just the right amount of exaggeration and there's something very desirable about the Moncler logo and all the quality retro touches. It's also built for the cold as with all the outerwear from Moncler".

The Chic Geek in dsquaredTrying his best to keep his fringing out of the torrential autumn rain, TheChicGeek sought shelter in one of London's finest Georgian arcades.

Wearing one of the key pieces from the Dsquared2 catwalk, TheChicGeek opted to dress up this typical cowboy style leather jacket for evening with a printed shirt and embroidered cropped trousers, all from the same collection.

Fossil bloggers watches bagsBeing naturally curious makes TheChicGeek the true geek that he is. He is curious about the new, curious to discover the best and curious enough to try anything once!

Left - What a curious bunch?! On Set - TheChicGeek shooting the new Fossil #CallingAllCurious campaign with the help of a few friends

Well, it's lucky then, that American accessory brand, Fossil, asked TheChicGeek, and a few friends, to take part in their new #CallingAllCurious AW15 campaign.

The current AW15 menswear collection falls under the theme of the ‘Curious Set’. Shot in London, we were tasked with celebrating the curious world of Fossil - its people, products and culture - in a series of images and choosing the product which most represents our personal style.

This season, Fossil has focused on product 'Icons' that have been developed with different colours and finishes. Craftmanship is essential to the collection, bringing attention to unnoticed detail designs in every cut, stitch and bolt.

Representing the concept of accessible cool, Fossil’s identity is anchored in vintage authentic style mixed with a creative spirit and a sense of humour that extends into all its products – watches, jewellery and bags.

From the pick of the new collection, TheChicGeek went for a handsome brown 'Grant' watch with stitched strap and an 'Estate' backpack with stylish and durable leather details and straps in a textured grey finish.

The Chic Geek Louis Vuitton menswear style Louis Vuitton's men's collection for AW15 looked to the British designer and artist, Christoper Nemeth, for inspiration.

Nemeth considered making clothes as one of his artistic practices. Amongst his trademarks are deconstructed tailored suits and drawings/illustrations depicting thread, needle and hands - the making of clothes - which are also featured on clothing accessories, furniture and more.

Louis Vuitton Nemeth catwalk menswearBorn in Birmingham, England, he moved to London in 1979 to study painting at Camberwell College of Arts. While he continued to paint after university, he also taught himself pattern cutting and sewing, making his own clothes out of discarded post bags and canvas from his paintings, which he then started to sell at Kensington Market.

In 1986, Nemeth moved his base to Tokyo, where the Christopher Nemeth store continues to be a permanent showcase and landmark of his work. He died in 2010.

Kim Jones has used Nemeth's Celtic-like knots as the bold signature of the new Louis Vuitton men's collection.

Label To know - Logan MacKay

logan mackay navy coatIain MacKay is the person behind Logan MacKay Menswear. The name Logan comes from his mother’s side of the family and MacKay from his father’s. Only 24 years old, he established the brand after coming out of university where he had studied ‘Business Entrepreneurship’.

Left - AW15 - Navy Wool Bomber with Beige Shearling Collar - £650

“Although I haven't been to a fashion college or studied any fashion related courses, I learned pattern making/cutting from a family friend who had been in the industry - now retired - for over 40 years”, he says.

“Initially, I focused on designing coats and jackets (AW/15 and SS/16), but due to demand I, now, intend on producing a full menswear collection for AW/16,

Logan Mackay leather jacket“My design ethos is fairly simple, I like to create garments that I would personally love to wear and hope that transcends to the customer. I also strongly believe in supporting British factories, therefore all of the collection is manufactured in a small factory in Bethnal Green”, he says.

TheChicGeek says, "When producing small quantities of quality product, Britain and in this case, London, is ideal for controlling and fine tuning the final item. Iain obviously has an eye and with his business background it will be exciting to see where he takes his eponymous label".

Hot List - Loewe Contrast Trim Suede Coat

loewe menswear autumn winter 2015One of the best and most directional collections of the season, Loewe’s menswear is overseen by the inventive eye of Irish designer J.W. Anderson.

This, his second menswear collection for Loewe, sees a creative rebrand of this traditional Spanish luxury goods company while respecting and using its expertise in leather goods.

This suede coat is one of the menswear highlights of the AW15 collection. Featuring bold red piped details on generous pockets it continues the exaggerated and retro details many menswear designers are pushing this season. At nearly £5,000 it is a major investment, but oh, what a beauty!
